Millions see Prince William and Kate Middleton interview
Around 14 million viewers watched the first television interview since Prince William became engaged to Kate Middleton.
The interview, which was conduced by ITV News‘ Tom Bradby had a combined audience of around 14 million viewers at 7pm. The interview was available to all broadcasters around the world. ITV1 attracted 5.91 million viewers, meanwhile BBC One’s The One Show, which broadcast the interview attracted 6.35 million viewers.
In the battle of the news channels, there was not that much difference in the numbers. Sky News attracted 122,000 viewers, with the BBC News Channel slightly ahead at 127,000 viewers between 7.00pm and 8.00pm. During the 11.00am hour earlier in the day, when the news broke, the BBC News Channel was watched by an average of 65,000 viewers compared to Sky News who had 34,000 viewers.
BBC News Channel had an all day share of 1.0% (0.8% same day last week), Sky News had 0.6% (0.5% same day last week).
