Joe McElderry has discussed his new album Wide Awake and said that he didn’t want a “generic” sound. The winner of the 2009 series of The X Factor was speaking about his new album on This Morning and revealed he was keen to record something different.
“I didn’t want to do the generic thing that everyone would have expected. It took a long time to find the direction, and it wasn’t until ‘Ambitions’ came that everyone was like ‘that’s the way we want to go” – Joe McElderry on This Morning.
Ambitions, the first single from McElderry’s debut album Wide Awake to be released, charted at 6 in the UK Singles Chart and was 4th in the European Hot 100 Singles. The singer’s new single, Someone Wake Me Up, is released on December 6th.
