EastEnders Tops 10 Million Viewers

EastEndersEastEnders continued its strong performance on Tuesday evening as ratings once again topped 10 million viewers despite thousands of complaints over its baby-swap plot. Elsewhere Silent Witness once again had the better of ITV’s Above Suspicion.

 

EastEndersEastEnders has another strong night on Tuesday evening despite the growing controversy surrounding its baby-swap plot. Ronnie Branning (Samantha Womack) swapped her baby with that of Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) in a shock cot-death storyline which has proved to be controversial for EastEnders fans. Thousands have already complained to the BBC over the storyline but despite the complaints ratings for EastEnders have actually increased. Monday’s episode of the BBC soap had 10.4 million viewers but last night’s episode saw a rise to 10.7 million viewers.

 

The strong performance of EastEnders helped boost Holby City at 8pm to over the 6 million mark as 6.4 million tuned in for the latest episode of the medical drama. At 9pm the concluding part of Monday’s opening episode of Silent Witness also saw a rise in ratings. The 14th season of Silent Witness opened on Monday evening with 5.9 million viewers and last night’s episode was seen by 6.3 million viewers. While Silent Witness saw a rise in ratings ITV’s Above Suspicion saw a drop with 4.4 million viewers returning for the second instalment – that’s a drop off over 1 million viewers.

 

Elsewhere last night Emmerdale continued its strong ratings performance with 7.7 million viewers.
