Jane Espenson to write Syfy’s Randall and Hopkirk
According to The Hollywood Reporter writers Jane Espenson and Drew Greenberg have been hired by Syfy to pen their revival of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).
According to The Hollywood Reporter writers Jane Espenson and Drew Greenberg have been hired by Syfy to pen their revival of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). Syfy acquired the rights to the 1960s series last year and have assigned the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter, to the two writers.
The two previously worked together on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Since the Joss Whedon series ended Jane Espenson has go on to write for Battlestar Galactica, Caprica and also for the brand new series of Torchwood; Miracle Day. Greenberg’s writing credits since the end of Buffy include Dexter and Warehouse 13.
The original series of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) ran on ITV1 for 26 episodes between 1969 and 1970; it starred Mike Pratt, Kenneth Cope and Annette Andre and was created by Doctor Who writer Dennis Spooner. The series was remade by the BBC in 2000 and ran for two seasons starring Emilia Fox, Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer and Tom Baker.
