Forget Live from Studio Five – its OK! TV – Take 2!
ATV Today takes a look at the new Channel 5 series OK! TV, which will be fronted by presenters Denise Van Outen and Matt Johnson. The new show uses a previous brand which first aired weekly on ITV in the late 1990s, however the re-born OK!-on-TV won’t be a celebrity lifestyle documentary as previously, but much more entertainment news based.

The new show uses a previous brand which first aired weekly on ITV in the late 1990s, however the re-born OK!-on-TV won’t be a celebrity lifestyle documentary as previously, but much more entertainment news based.
The all-new OK! TV – named after the popular glossy magazine – will be the perfect place to catch up on all things celebrity and Denise and Matt will ensure no showbiz stone is left unturned Channel 5 say.
“The show will be a mix of big name interviews, features from the worlds of celebrity, music and fashion, plus gossip and plenty of banter.” the broadcaster states. Andrew O’Connell, Head of Factual, at the network adds, “OK! TV is set to become a key part of the Channel 5 schedule. Denise and Matt’s refreshing and no holds barred take on the world of entertainment news will be a breath of fresh air. ”
The series will start on Monday 14th February, when Five becomes Channel 5, and the show will run every weekday between 6.30pm and 7.00pm, following a soap double of Neighbours and Home and Away.
“Valentine’s Day marks a stellar line up in the Channel 5 schedule with OK! TV adding to Emma Crosby and Matt Barbet’s debut as the new presenters of Channel 5 News, a Gadget Show Special from the Manchester Museum of Science and Justin Lee Collins’ adventures with one of his action heroes in Steven Seagal vs. Justin Lee Collins.” say Channel 5.
OK! TV will be produced by Sky News for Channel 5. The original series was produced by Carlton Television for ITV, and was fronted by Fiona Phillips. New host Denise Van Outen is no stranger to television screens becoming a household name thanks to roles on mainstream terrestrial shows such as Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast and more recently BBC’s Any Dream Will Do and I’d Do Anything.
Denise is currently starring as Paulette in the West End production Legally Blonde and has also written a book about her experiences of pregnancy called Bumpalicious, which will be published in March 2011.
Denise Van Outen said, “I can’t wait to get cracking on OK! TV. I have a huge appetite for all things showbiz so this show is right up my street. I’m really looking forward to working with Matt too and we can’t wait to show the viewers what we’ve got in store.”
Co-host Matt Johnson was spotted while presenting regional music and entertainment series The Wales Show for ITV1 Wales and is currently presenting the new interactive ‘Hub’ every Friday for daytime programme This Morning. Matt was recently voted the sexiest man in Wales by the Western Mail and the Wales on Sunday newspapers.
Matt says of his new presenting role, “I am very excited to be part of OK! TV and I think Denise and I are going to have a lot of fun together – I’ve long been an admirer of her presenting style and know we’ll get along like a house on fire.”
OK! TV will broadcast on Monday – Friday on Channel 5 at 6.30pm – 7.00pm
