The CW orders ninth season of One Tree Hill
The CW has ordered a ninth season of its veteran drama One Tree Hill and a second season of Nikita but has axed Hellcats.
The fate of One Tree Hill had been left hanging somewhat with much speculation in the press over its future. Some reports claimed The CW was poised to cancel the series and for a while its lack of renewal seemed to hint towards this. However, given the drama’s continued relatively good performance others argued The CW would likely renew the series. Nikita was another show which divided opinion being on the “bubble” as it were.
The CW had already renewed dramas such as Gossip Girl, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries as well as America’s Top Model. The broadcaster has also picked up Sarah Michelle Gellar’s pilot Ringer originally slated for CBS. Other pick ups include Secret Circle, from Vampire Diaries’ Kevin Williamson, and Hart of Dixie.
