Pirates of the Caribbean 4 passes $1 billion in box office takings
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has passed the $1 billion mark in Box Office takings.
The fourth film in the lucrative Disney franchise was released in May and has become a smash-hit at the box office. That’s despite poor reviews and some criticisms over its use of 3D. The film is the first in the franchise not to feature Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley but that doesn’t seem to have put cinema-goers off. Returning for On Stranger Tides were Johnny Deep, Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally who were joined by Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane.
Passing the $1 billion mark makes Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on the list of must successful films – even placing it slightly ahead of the previous film in the franchise; At The Worlds End. Given its done so well at the box office is any chance there won’t be a fifth film?
