Gossip Girl actress signs up for Green Lantern

Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively has signed up for the forthcoming Warner Brothers film Green Lantern. The actress has won the role of Carol Ferris after an extensive search in which actresses such as Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner were linked to the role. Lively will play opposite Ryan Reynolds in the Green Lantern film which will be directed by Michael Campbell. In the comic books the character of Carol Ferris runs her father’s aerospace company and hires Hal Jordan [Ryan Reynolds] who goes on to become the Green Lantern. Although producers were looking to cast an older actress in the role of Carol they were impressed by Lively’s other film work and offered her the role.
