Crocker back on the books at Sky Sports?

Football Commentator Ian Crocker looks likely to have signed a contract with Sky Sports according to speculation from fans and insiders on football forums.

It was announced in September that Sky’s Football and Boxing Commentator Ian Darke was leaving to go to ESPN US and work on top Premier league football.  This meant a replacement would have to be found for the massive amount of live football Sky covers. Rumours surfaced that Sky may go for a big named commentator from the BBC or ITV, names including Steve Wilson or Clive Tyldesley.  However Ian Crocker is the man to return to the top table in Sky’s Commentator pecking order.

Ian Crocker was Sky’s number one Football League and Scottish football commentator for many years until he left to go to Setanta in 2006.  There he commentated on live SPL and FA Premier League games. He remained with Setanta till their collapse in 2009.

For the 2009/2010 football season Crocker was freelance. He returned to Sky Sports to commentate on the SPL, as well as working for STV and ITV. His ITV work led him to being part of their commentary team for the 2010 World Cup.  This season Crocker has not appeared on any other channel other than Sky, giving a strong indication that he isn’t freelance anymore.
