X Factor: Gamu faces deportation

After the controversial decision not to put through Gamu Nhengu to the final 12 of The X Factor – was the decision due to her family’s deportation ruling?

It has been revealed today that Gamu’s family are facing deportation from the UK back to their homeland of Zimbabwe.

A statement from Border Agency to the BBC, in relation to application from Gamu’s mother, “The applications made by Ms Ngazana and her family were considered in line with the published immigration rules. Ms Ngazana’s application was refused as it did not meet all of the conditions for approval. Her family, who had applied as her dependants, were therefore also refused.”

It had been claimed over the past few days that Cheryl Cole, who chose not to put Gamu through to the live shows, had pressure put on her by production staff. An ITV spokeswoman for the show told the BBC that the visa issue had nothing to to do with Gamu not making it through.
