Simon Cowell has spoken out over viewers anger that Mary Byrne was voted out of the show over Cher Lloyd.
Many viewers, including the press, stated that the show was fixed due to the decision to have a sing-off for the semi-final, something which had not been done before. He told The Mirror that the decision to have a sing-off was “to stop it from becoming boring…I want to assure people that the show is definitely not fixed.”
Cowell went on to say “The sing-off on Sunday was something that was always going to happen regardless of who was in the bottom two. The contestants all prepared their save-me songs on Monday last week. It was always going to be sad for whoever left.”
The final of this year’s X Factor is on ITV 1 this weekend, in which Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, One Direction and Cher Lloyd will battle it out to be crowned the winner.
