PrimevalIn an interview with SFX actor Ciarán McMenamin discusses his role in the fourth season of ITV’s time-travelling drama Primeval. The actor is one of several actors joining the cast of the revived Primeval for its fourth series.

At the conclusion of its third season Primeval was cancelled by ITV despite its strong performance against Robin Hood on BBC One (which was also axed). However, shortly afterwards Primeval was revived and re-commissioned for a fourth and a fifth season thanks to a co-production deal. Ciarán McMenamin joins the cast of Primeval as Matt Anderson and in an interview with SFX discussed the role a little more.

“I’m not allowed to tell you a lot, but he’s here for very specific reasons that will be revealed later in the series. He has a bigger motive but he’s a good guy with a military background and a real specific love of his work. He also keeps himself to himself, lives a very spartan existence – we never hear anything about friends or family, so there’s a lot of mystery around him as to why he’s there, where he’s from and what makes him tick. You don’t really start finding all that out until later on.” – Ciarán McMenamin in SFX Magazine

Ciarán McMenamin is probably most familar to audiences for his roles in True Dare Kiss, The Golden Hour and the British detective series Jericho. Other new cast members for the fourth season of Primeval include Alexander Siddig (Dr Bashir in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and Ruth Kearney. Hannah Spearritt and Andrew-Lee Potts are reprising their roles for the new series.

The new issue of SFX is on-sale from Wednesday 15th December.
