Alex KingstonMatt Smith and Karen Gillan have revealed that actress Alex Kingston knows more details about season six of Doctor Who and her character of River Song than they do. In separate interviews with the Doctor Who Magazine both actors revealed that showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed details about River’s character and plot details to actress Alex Kingston even though they are still in the dark.

We are going to discover who River is, but it’s so strange for me, because Steven has told Alex (Kingston) everything, up to Episode 13 and has told me nothing! She knows everything that’s going to happen to the Doctor, to Amy, to everyone. It’s quite an odd thing as an actor because I’m playing scenes when I don’t know what they’re about” – Matt Smith in the Doctor Who Magazine

The actor went on to add that he wouldn’t ask Steven Moffat for details of what’s to come because ‘I’m a fan like you are. I think there’s a virtue in it, definitely but also I want to know”. Smith also revealed he had tried to quiz actress Alex Kingston over the details of what’s to come but “She won’t tell me.”

Meanwhile actress Karen Gillan also revealed that Alex Kingston knows a lot more about the season than her but teased she knew details about Amy Pond that no one else did.

“We’re all keeping secrets from each other. Steven has very cleverly told us little secrets that we’re not allowed to tell each other. I’ve been trying to get secrets out of Alex pretty much every day – I want to know who River Song is – but that woman will not budge. She’s good at keeping secrets. But I know a few things about Amy that I’m keeping quiet”. – Karen Gillan in the Doctor Who Magazine.

The forthcoming sixth season of Doctor Who will be spilt in to half with episodes airing in both the Spring and the Autumn; a “game-changing” mid-season cliff hanger leaving fans wanting more. Filming for the new series continues in Cardiff.
