NBCNBC has ordered a pilot from Ron Moore; the man who “re-imaged” Battlestar Galactica. Entertainment Weekly are reporting that NBC has picked up a pilot from Ron Moore which is being described as an “adult Harry Potter“. The show, provisionally titled 17th Precinct, is set in a world of magic rather than science and is a police drama set in the fictional town of Excelsior. Moore’s other project in the pipeline, coast guard drama The McCulloch, is still in development.

As stated Ron Moore “re-imaged” Battlestar Galactica for the Sci Fi Channel turning it from a fondly remembered 1970s series into a critically acclaimed, award winning dark science fiction exploring topical and moral issues. Moore’s more recent work include its prequel Caprica and the forthcoming new spin-off Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. Previous to Galactica his work include Carnivale, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Roswell.
