ABC detective drama Castle is to feature a plot in which a soap star is murdered and according to reports the forthcoming episode will feature appearances from soap stars. TV Line is reporting that the episode will be titled “One Life to Lose“; a clear reference to ABC’s daytime soap One Life to Live. Castle’s lead actor Nathan Fillion played the role of Joey Buchanan in the daytime soap between 1994 and 1997 and reprised the role in 2007 for two episodes. Last year Fillion spoke about his time on One Life to Live and said he would gladly go back if asked – even though his role has since been re-cast.
TVLine is reporting that the soap-star-murdered plot will see appearances from daytime soap stars in guest roles for the plot. However, there are no details as yet on who will appear in the episode. ABC has three daytime soaps it could pick from; One Life to Live, General Hospital and All My Children. There’s also the three other non-ABC soaps that producers could look towards in the guise of former cast members. After all Castle has featured several former soap stars in guest roles before such as A Martinez (Santa Barbara/General Hospital) and Sarah Joy Brown (The Bold and the Beautiful).
The episode will air on ABC on March 21st.
