Hermione Norris has blasted the lack of decent roles on television for older women.

 

Hermione Norris has blasted the lack of decent roles on television for older women. The actress, speaking to the Radio Times, also criticised the hugely popular Sex and the City calling it “insulting”. Norris was speaking to the listings magazine ahead of the launch of BBC One’s new science fiction drama Outcasts in which Norris stars alongside Jamie Bamber.

 

“When you get to my age, the conversations women have – the preoccupations, the frustrations, the grief – are never represented. Sex and the City was insulting, women all clawing to their youth when there’s such ripe territory in honestly exploring women’s lives as they get older. Women’s magazines are designed to make you feel s****er and to buy a product. It’s tyrannical.” – Hermione Norris speaking to the Radio Times

 

The actress recently spoke about a possible revival of the 1990s comedy/drama Cold Feet – confirming she would be interested in reprising her role for any reunion project. Norris’ other notable roles include BBC One’s spy drama Spooks, Kingdom alongside Stephen Fry, Wire in the Blood and ITV’s recent remake of Bouquet of Barbed Wire opposite Trevor Eve.
