First Minister, Rt Hon Peter D Robinson MLA and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP MLA have launched a new visual information service for Northern Ireland online web surfers produced by UTV.

nidirect tv is a new online player available on the indirect website which is the government information and services hub for Northern Ireland citizens. It is organised into themes such as Motoring, Property and housing, and Employment. The site offers online services such as booking cars in for an MOT or apply for or replace a passport. Now ITV in Northern Ireland – UTV – has produced video content for the website.

Jeremy Biggerstaff, MD UTV New Media, speaking at the launch of nidirect tv at UTV headquarters said: “We are delighted to partner with nidirect to show the powerful impact video can have online. These short programmes filmed by UTV illustrate simply and effectively key nidirect services that affect our everyday lives whether its going for an MOT or preparing for Digital switchover. We trust local people will find these programmes a very practical and helpful addition to the nidirect website.”

Jeremy Biggerstaff, UTVA series of short instructional videos have been produced by UTV. They contain information and advice on a broad range of subjects.

Mr Robinson adds: “The launch of nidirect tv represents a new and innovative venture, which would not have been possible without the support and expertise of UTV. The fact that they have done this at no cost to government is laudable and I sincerely thank them.”

The videos are available at the following link: http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/tv. UTV continue to provide local commitment to their regional ITV area, unlike the companies currently operating across ITV’s network in England and Wales.
