The stage and television actor TP McKenna has died at the age of 81 in London after a long illness.

 

The stage and television actor TP McKenna has died at the age of 81 in London after a long illness. The Irish actor was born Thomas Patrick and made his stage debut in 1954. He was a familiar face on television appearing in a wide variety of iconic programmes of the 1960s and 1970s such as Dangerman, The Avengers, The Saint, Blakes 7, Crown Court, The Onedin Line, Jason King, Callan and Randal and Hopkirk (Deceased).

 

In the 1980s he appeared in Bleak House, Minder, Boon and Doctor Who. The actor continued to act into the 1990s and early 2000s with appearances in Rumpole of the Bailey, The Chief, Lovejoy, Heartbeat, Waking the Dead, Casualty, Inspector Morse and The Bill. His last on-screen role was in 2004 in the Irish soap Fair City.
