The drama starring Trevor Eve and Sue Johnston has been cancelled by the BBC as it clears the way for newer shows though a spin-off starring Tara Fitzgerald has been commissioned. According to overnight ratings the final series of Waking the Dead launched last night on BBC One with 6 million viewers.

At 10.30pm on BBC One the final part of the troubled sci-fi series Outcasts aired. The eight-part drama has been a huge flop for the BBC despite its strong cast consisting of Daniel Mays, Liam Cunningham, Hermione Norris, Amy Manson and Eric Mabius. The final episode of Outcasts had just 1.6 million viewers.

The third season of supernatural drama Being Human drew to a close on BBC Three last night. The drama starring Russell Tovey, Aidan Turner, Lenora Crichlow and Sinead Keenan ended its third season with 1.1 million viewers according to Attentional.
