Warning: Contains some spoilers.
In an interview with the BBC promoting the new series of Doctor Who the actress discussed some of the new monsters to appear – including The Silence. The new enemies are to be introduced in the opening two-part story The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. Matt Smith has already described the new foes as “one of the greatest monsters of recent years” and it seems co-star Karen Gillan agrees.
I think The Silence, which are the new monsters in the opening two episodes, actually rival the Weeping Angels in terms of scariness and they look disgusting. The concept behind them is ingenious because it feels like they are undefeatable…” – Karen Gillan speaking to the BBC
The Weeping Angels proved a hit with fans when they made their appearance in the ‘Doctor-lite’ episode Blink in 2007. The Weeping Angels returned last year for the two-part story The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone which also saw the return of Alex Kingston as River Song. In the same interview with the BBC actress Karen Gillan also revealed some old foes of the Doctor’s would be returning….
“This series also sees the return of some of the Doctor’s oldest foes, but with an interesting twist…” – Karen Gillan
The sixth season of Doctor Who is expected to premier on BBC One over the Easter weekend as has become tradition for the show since its revival in 2005.
