GleeDarren Criss has been promoted to the regular cast for the third season of Fox musical comedy Glee while Chord Overstreet will not be back as a regular, reports TV Line.

Darren Criss has been a hit with fans of Glee as Blaine, who was introduced as a  love interest for Kurt (Chris Colfer) in the second season. The pairing of Blaine and Kurt has been such a hit with fans that Criss will be promoted from guest star to series regular for the third season of Glee. Criss isn’t the only actor enjoying promotion as Harry Shun Jr, who plays Mike Chang, has also been made a series regular.

However, Chord Overstreet will not be back on a regular basis as Sam Evans. The actor’s contract has not been picked up for a third year although its still possible he’ll appear occasionally in Glee. The changes for the third season line-up comes after six new writers were hired for the new season and the confirmation by Ryan Murphy, series creator, that for some members of Glee it will be there last season. Murphy confirmed some of the characters would graduate at the end of the season and move on but not all the cast were being written out – some would remain part of Glee.
