Doctor Who producer Beth Willis returning to Kudos
Doctor Who is losing another producer as Beth Willis is leaving the BBC to return to Kudos.
Broadcast reports the producer is returning to the production company from which she joined the BBC from. Willis will leave the BBC in September to return to Kudos and her departure will come in the same month as that of Piers Wenger who leaves to join Film4. Willis and Wenger have produced Doctor Who alongside showrunner Steven Moffat since he took over the reins from Russell T. Davies.
“We couldn’t keep her forever, though God knows I tried. She is off to be brave and brilliant in brand new ways, and the sad news for Doctor Who is that it will be somewhere else.” – Steven Moffat
The departure of two producers on Doctor Who in the same month will mean the BBC has the tricky task of finding two replacements. Broadcast reports the corporation is hoping to find a replacement for Willis before production begins on the Christmas Special and then will seek another producer – to replace Wenger – in time for production to begin on the seventh series.
