Adrian Chiles to cut back Daybreak presenting role

Adrian Chiles{jcomments on}Adrian Chiles is cutting back his presenting role on ITV’s breakfast show Daybreak.

From September the presenter will only host four editions of the show a week instead of his current five. It’s unknown yet if Christine Bleakley will continue to present all five shows a week or follow Chiles’ lead and drop an edition. Chiles will present Daybreak on Mons – Thursday. An ITV spokesperson claims the move was always part of Chiles contract with the broadcaster.

It comes though a week after it was revealed Daybreak’s editor Ian Rumsey was stepping down. Over the weekend it was alleged that Kate Garraway was quitting the series but this was denied by the presenter and ITV. Daybreak continues to struggle in the ratings compared to its BBC rival Breakfast.

As well as presenting Daybreak Chiles also fronts ITV’s football coverage and earlier this year also presented That Sunday Night Show, a review of the week gone by. The panel show performed relatively well in the ratings and is expected to return.
