Marc Cherry has idea for Desperate Housewives finale

Desperate Housewives{jcomments on}Desperate Housewives creator and showrunner Marc Cherry has an idea how the ABC drama will end after it was confirmed the 8th season will be its last.

After weeks of rumours ABC officially confirmed yesterday that the 8th season of Desperate Housewives would be its last. There had been some debate over whether ABC would order a 9th season to tie-up loose ends but in the end opted to make the 8th season the last. ABC is hoping its new line-up of dramas, such as Charlie’s Angels and Pan Am, will be just as popular as Desperate Housewives.

So how will it all end for the residents of Wisteria Lane? Well Marc Cherry isn’t giving away much but he is quoted on Hollywood Reporter saying “I have an idea for the last episode in which I want to pay homage to everyone who’s been there before and been on the show”. The Hollywood Reporter also notes Nicollette Sheridan’s character of Edie Britt could even return – despite the fact she was killed off in the 5th season. Sheridan isn’t the only former cast member with others including Richard Burgi, Roger Bart, Neal McDonough, Drea de Matteo, Jesse Metcalfe, Alfre Woodard and Dana Delany who know stars in ABC’s Body of Proof.

Brenda Strong, who narrates the drama as Mary Alice Young, recently revealed she would be appearing in more flashbacks during the 8th season to “bookend” the drama. It seems likely therefore that a lot of what has happened over the course of the 8 seasons on Wisteria Lane will be referenced and part of the final storylines.
