Veteran NBC Journalist Andrea Mitchell announces her Cancer battle on live TV

Chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC Andrea Mitchell announced to American viewers live on her TV show that she has discovered she has Breast Cancer.

 

She made the on-air announcement to highlight early detection of the disease for other women telling viewers, “Screening matters. Do it,” adding “I had planned to be hiking in Wyoming last week, but instead discovered that I am now among the one in eight women in this country… who have had breast cancer,”

She told viewers of her show, Andrea Mitchell Reports, that her prognosis is “terrific” thanks to doctors detecting the cancer in its early stages.

“I’m looking at this as another of life’s lessons,” Mitchell said. “For you women out there and the men who love you, screening matters. Do it. This disease can be completely curable if you find it at the right time.”
