Russell Tovey quits Being Human

Actor Russell Tovey has announced he is leaving BBC Three’s supernatural series Being Human.

The actor confirmed his departure from the popular series, created by Toby Whithouse, on Twitter. The actor had previously announced his departure in an interview but took to Twitter to confirm the news.

The actor tweeted ‘Hey my lovely witty’s, you may or may not know by now, but I am leaving Being Human officially…you should all know… Im sorry.’ Up until now Tovey’s exit from Being Human had been kept quiet – something the actor alluded to in an interview with The Guardian.

Tovey plays werewolf George Sands in Being Human – having been part of the original pilot from which the series spawned. His departure follows that of Aidan Turner, who played John Mitchell, who left at the end of the third season. The actor was cast in a role of The Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings prequel.

It’s unknown when Tovey will bow out of Being Human – during the course of its fourth series or at its end. The fourth series of the supernatural drama is expected to air on BBC Three early next year. Fans fearing the end may be nigh for the drama Tovey had this to say ‘With Being Human the story can definitely go on’.
