America orders more Jeremy Kyle

Jeremy KyleJeremy Kyle’s American talk show is set to return for a second series.

The American version of The Jeremy Kyle Show is set to return for a set series reports Broadcast. The talk show has been re-commissioned for a second series which will air in 2012-2013 season. The talk show has been picked up for syndication by more than 50% of America.

The talk show is based on Kyle’s British series which airs weekday mornings on ITV1 and has attracted wide-spread criticism. The show has been accused of exploiting guests and being no better than “bear baiting”. Guests on The Jeremy Kyle Show are usually there to confront a cheating partner or to find out if their child is there’s or not – DNA results and lair detector tests have become a staple of the series.

Last week it was revealed that Trisha Goddard was launching her own talk show in America. The presenter has previously hosted talk shows for ITV and Channel Five – in fact it was her departure from ITV that eventually led to the launch of The Jeremy Kyle Show. Since the end of her Channel Five series Goddard has made appearances on Maury, also known as The Maury Povich Show, as a consultant and occasional host.
