George Takei urges Star Trek and Star War fans to unite

George TakeiGeorge Takei has urged Star Trek and Star War fans to unite against their real common enemy; vampire franchise Twilight.

As some of you may be aware there’s been a bit of a battle between Star Trek and Star War fans of late – or should that be the battle between the two fractions was re-ignited lately. Why? William Shatner took time out from taking pot-shot at his co-stars, to be fair they’ve been taking pot-shots at him too, to take a few swipes at Star Wars. Well actress Carrie Fisher, who played Prince Leia in the original three films, was none to happy and took a few swipes back.

However, actor George Takei has come to broker a peace between the two warring fractions urging them to come together to fight a common enemy; Twilight. The franchise teenage girls love dominates the cinema thanks to the sex appeal of its lead cast; Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner…and well because we all know vampires are sexy, right? Well Takei has urged Star Trek and Star War fans to come together against the Twilight films because he feels they run no deeper than the basic teenage angst of ‘does my boyfriend like me’.

What do you think? Does Takei have a point about Twilight?
