Fox to decide future of Terra Nova 'very soon'

Terra NovaFox has said it will decided ‘very soon’ whether it will renew Terra Nova or not.

The time-travelling drama, revolving around colonists from the future travelling back to the Cretaceous period, did not perform as well as Fox had hoped. It was not a huge break-out success but Terra Nova still performed well. A question mark hangs over its future though because of the huge price tag attached to making the series which is perhaps why Fox has yet to order a second series.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association winter tour, entertainment president Kevin Reilly briefly spoke about Terra Nova. ‘We’ll decide very soon, because it does need to get back into production in the next month’ Reilly is quoted as saying. The series stars Jason O’Mara, Shelley Conn and Stephen Lang and is filmed in Australia. For a second season to be ready for broadcast in the Autumn production would need to start very shortly because of all the SFX involved with the series.

Terra Nova is widely seen as a “bubble show” – a term coined for a series whose future could go either away (renewed or cancelled).
