Comedy Central have confirmed that there will be a second series of sitcom Threesome.
Comedy Central aired its first single-camera sitcom, Threesome, back in October last year and the show proved a reasonable success for the network. Tom MacRae – who has worked on such productions as Doctor Who and No Angels – wrote seven episode to the first series which followed three inseparable friends, who after an excessive night out boozing end up having an unplanned threesome.
Produced by Big Talk Productions the show is Comedy Central’s first homegrown UK sitcom.
Pete Thornton Comedy Central UK’s Commissioning Editor said at the time of the launch of the first series: “This new commission represents a big step forward for the channel, and we’re very excited to be setting out on this journey with Tom MacRae’s distinctive, bold and highly original scripts.” He added that, ‘we are delighted to be working with the hugely talented team at Big Talk.’ Yes we are.”
Irish actress Amy Huberman of The Clinic fame and Whites star Stephen Wight play Alice and Mitch the loved-up couple who fell into bed together alongside their gay best friend Richie played by Lip Service actor Emun Elliott. The unplanned threesome resulted in an unplanned pregnancy.
“Utterly hopeless as individuals, the trio decided three heads were better than one in this situation and decided to make a go at parenting as a threesome.” Comedy Central note.
Nine months and seven episodes later the final episode of series one saw the baby arrive.
“Expect a whole load of questionable parenting techniques when the second series of Threesome airs later this year.” Adds Comedy Central.
The first series is currently being repeated on the network on Tuesday nights at 10pm. There are no details as yet as to how many episodes the second run will have.
