Simon Cowell 'in talks' about BBC drama

Simon Cowell has been in ‘secret talks’ with the BBC over a new drama.
The Mirror reports that Cowell has been in communication with the BBC after feeling ‘betrayed’ by ITV. It had been claimed that Cowell has been upset over ITV’s  lack of support in his shows.
An insider told the newspaper that when Simon spoke to BBC One controller Danny Cohen to congratulate him on The Voice UK beating Britain’s Got Talent, he pitched details about a new drama.

“Simon rang Danny Cohen to congratulate him on how well The Voice was doing. He then said he had a great idea for a brilliant drama and outlined it. He’s gone off to do a proposal and it will be treated like any other idea from an independent production company.” – Insider speaking to The Mirror.

A BBC source has said that they are happy to talk to Cowell but fear that he could be using them in his ongoing ‘war’ with ITV.

“Cowell wants the BBC to know he could be working with us – this is his way of flexing his pecs and showing them he has options. Danny doesn’t want to be played off by Cowell.” – BBC source

The BBC and ITV have been at the centre of a ratings battle between The Voice UK and Britain’s Got Talent. This week ITV had initially scheduled the final of BGT directly against The Voice UK. In a late change, they moved it to a later slot.
