ITV 'committed' to Lewis
ITV has stated it is committed to the Inspector Morse spin-off Lewis following reports the end was nigh for the detective drama.
Colin Dexter, who penned the Inspector Morse novels, suggested that Lewis was nearing the end of its run and suggested they’d “probably” only be one more season of the drama left. Lewis stars Kevin Whately, reprising his role from the Inspector Morse series, and Laurence Fox and first aired on ITV1 in 2006.
ITV has insisted it is “committed” to the spin-off with a spokesperson telling BBC News ‘We have a series of Lewis due on screen later this month and a further series goes into production in June. We remain committed to Lewis.’
The sixth season of Lewis launches next Wednesday on ITV1. ITV has also ordered a full series of Morse prequel series Endeavour following the pilot, starring Shaun Evans, earlier this year which had over 8 million viewers.
