Andrew Hayden-Smith joins Hollyoaks as DS Armstrong
Actor Andrew Hayden-Smith has joined the cast of Channel 4’s teen soap Hollyoaks as a young and eager investigator determined to unearth the village’s deepest, buried secrets.
“I am over the moon; I have watched Hollyoaks since it began so to be here in the village is surreal. “It is a dream job to be thrown in to the heart of such a gritty storyline and I am looking forward to having the villagers quaking in their boots.” – Andrew Hayden-Smith
Andrew, who has recently starred in Channel 4’s Banana and Cucumber, will play DS Armstrong, a fresh detective who has been enlisted to bolster the investigation of Patrick’s “Body in the Wall” murder. At the start of the year, viewers saw villainous Patrick Blake murdered by his own granddaughter, serial killer and Hollyoaks wild child, Nico Blake. Believing he had framed her, Maxine felt she had no choice but to recruit the help of Darren Osborne and the pair hid Patrick’s body in the city wall where it still remains.

Andrew’s numerous TV credits include Byker Grove and Doctor Who as well as presenting roles with CBBC and This Morning. His on-screen debut as DS Armstrong will be on E4 on Tuesday 14th June.
“DS Armstrong is young, driven, and ambitious and has been drafted in to make progress on the mystery of missing Patrick. “With the Gloved Hand Killer death toll at seven and counting, DS Thorpe didn’t exactly cover himself in glory but this injection of fresh blood should reignite the investigation.” – A spokesperson for Hollyoaks at Lime Pictures
